In the English 30-2 program, students will develop a variety of reading, comprehension and writing strategies. Using these strategies, students will be expected to respond to texts at a variety of different levels of sophistication. The 10-2, 20-2, 30-2 course sequence satisfies the English Language Arts requirements for a high school diploma, and it will prepare students for some post-secondary programs.

Prerequisites: English 20-2: 50% or English 20-1: 40%. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year.

Please note:  Quarterly fast track courses move TWICE AS FAST as semestered courses. Students should consider the time and space they have to dedicate to their studies in choosing the timing of course-delivery.

Students taking this course must write a Diploma Exam in November, January, April, June OR August.
Diploma Exam for English 30-2 is:  PART A - January 10 and PART B - January 23, 2024.

Students may choose to re-do their diploma exam. If a student has written the diploma exam for this course within the last two school years they are considered to be rewriting. For students who decide to rewrite an exam, please note that Alberta Education charges $26.25 to do so and the fee is payable directly to them through their myPass account.

Students are expected to supply their own dictionary and thesaurus.
