Aboriginal Studies 20 is a provincial course suitable for all students in Alberta schools. The course focuses on indigenous people from a Canadian and Alberta perspective. It includes the study of policies, legislation, conflict and cultural change.
The four themes in Aboriginal Studies 20 are:
• The Métis: Conflict and Cultural Change
 • Treaties and Cultural Change
• Legislation, Policies and Cultural Change
 • Schooling and Cultural Change.

Please read: 

ONLY GRADE 9 STUDENTS going into Grade 10 in September 2020 may register for this course.

This course will be delivered in a blended environment with students working independently on-line from home as well as periodically onsite within EPSB schools (possibly multiple buildings/locations). Students taking this course will need access to a computer with internet connection, and a functional webcam.

Due to the short timeline of Summer School, on-line courses are only recommended to students who have previous experience with online learning. Argyll Centre Summer classes are available for students who were under 20 years of age on September 1, 2019 of the current school year.

Your SchoolZone log-in credentials will remain the same for Summer School if you are currently attending an Edmonton Public School. Any communication from Metro or Argyll regarding your Summer School class may be sent to your share@epsb.ca email OR the email address you provided to Metro upon registration. Please check both regularly.

If you are not currently attending an Edmonton Public School, an email containing your log-in credentials and other information you may require, will be sent to the email address you provided at the time of registration. The email address must be one you check on a regular basis since important information will be sent within one week of the date of registration. If a Registration Team member has asked that you provide additional information in order to complete your file - your registration will NOT be considered complete until you do so. The one week wait time will begin when your registration is complete.

TOTAL COST includes a refundable $100 textbook deposit and a $40 non-refundable program fee. Textbooks and/or supplies will be distributed per Argyll’s Summer School policy.

TEXTBOOK REQUIRED and will be added at the check-out. The $100 deposit will be refunded when the books are returned.

Textbooks & materials are not available for pick-up at Argyll Centre (6859 - 100 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta) until June 1, 2020. If you are registering between May 27 and June 26, 2020 - please be advised that you must wait two business days before picking up your textbooks and any materials. For students who register prior to May 27 - there is no 2 day wait - your materials/textbooks will be available June 1.

Argyll’s hours of operation: May 1 to June 26, 2020 are: Monday 8:00am - 4:00pm; Tuesday 8:00am - 5:00pm; Wednesday & Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm; Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm. As of July 2, 2020 hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 9:00am - 2:00pm.

Students residing outside of Edmonton must contact Argyll Centre Library at 1.888.532.7222 ext. 5225 if you wish to have books shipped directly to your home (for out of town residents ONLY - additional shipping costs apply).

LOGIN TO ONLINE CLASSES BEGINS JULY 2, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE THESE IMPORTANT DATES: June 22, 2020 is the last day to register online for Argyll Summer School classes. June 26, 2020 is the last day to register in person. June 29, 2020 is the last day to pick up resources for summer school. Students must have completed at least 50% of their course materials (assignments, projects, assessments) by July 15, 2020 and the rest of the course materials need to be completed and turned in by July 24.

All students must write their final exams on-site at Argyll on either July 27 or July 28, 2020 at 9:00 am. There is no availability for proctoring exams for out of town students.

All resources must be returned no later than July 28, 2020 in order for the textbook deposit to be refunded.

Students are to supply their own dictionary and/or thesaurus.
