This academic program is designed to study matter and energy and their interactions. The program emphasizes the context of science by considering the interrelationship among science, technology and society. Physics 20-30 helps students understand the physics principles behind the natural events they experience and the technology they use in their daily lives. The four topics covered are: Momentum and Impulse, Forces and Fields, Electromagnetic Radiation and Atomic Physics. Prerequisite: Physics 20: 50%. (It is recommended that students taking Physics 30 also have Math 20-1.) Students must write a diploma exam in January, June or August. Alberta Education charges $26.25 to rewrite a diploma exam, and the fee is payable directly to Alberta Ed. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of Sep 1 of the current school year.
