In the spring of 2015, Edmonton’s city council passed an amendment to permit beekeeping in the city, opening up a whole new world for beekeeper wannabes (no pun intended!). If you’re interested in finding out more about keeping honeybees and why it’s such a rewarding experience, join local urban beekeeper Dustin Bajer in this exciting beginner course.

An important first step in keeping bees is to understand honeybee biology, behaviour and evolution. Gain the basic knowledge you need for effective beekeeping: honeybee anatomy, pheromones, communication, seasonal behaviour, swarming, overwintering, genetics, castes and life cycles. Dustin will provide an overview of all these elements to prepare you for the next level of learning.
