Chemistry 30 - Jasper Place - In-Person Class

This academic program is designed to study matter and its changes. The program emphasizes the context of science by considering the interrelationships among science, technology and society. Students, through the study of Chemistry 20-30, are given an opportunity to explore and understand the natural world and to become aware of the profound influence of chemistry on their lives. The four topics covered are: Thermochemical Changes, Electrochemical Changes, Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds and Chemical Equilibrium Focusing on Acid-Base Systems.
 
Prerequisite: Chemistry 20 – 50%. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year.

Students must write a diploma exam in November, January, April, June or August. If a student has written a diploma exam for this subject within the last 3 school years, Alberta Education requires the student pay $26.25 to rewrite the exam. The fee is payable directly to Alberta Education and can only be done through the student’s myPass account. The fee is to be paid before rewriting the exam.
