Quarterly fast track courses move TWICE AS FAST as semestered courses. Students should consider the time and space they have to dedicate to their studies in choosing the timing of course-delivery.

Students in English 20-1 will analyze and respond to literature, including extended texts (a novel, a nonfiction book or feature film, and a Shakespearean play) and shorter texts (poetry, short stories, visuals and multimedia, and essays) that relate to cultural and societal issues in Canadian and global contexts. They also create their own texts, e.g., fiction, nonfiction/persuasive writing, presentations/media, scripts. This course is for students considering careers that require strong reading and communication skills and for those who may be interested in post-secondary education.

Prerequisites: English 10-1: 50% or English 20-2: 65%. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year.
