In Mathematics 31 students determine the limit of a function at finite or infinite values of the independent variable. They use derivative theorems to determine the derivative of a function, either explicitly or implicitly, and use derivatives to sketch graphs of functions and solve optimization problems. They also investigate the relationship between differentiation and integration.

Students without the co-requisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year. Co-requisite: Math 30-1: 50%.

REGISTRATION for this class begins Monday December 1, 2025 and will close Sunday February 1, 2026. From Monday February 2, 2026 to Wednesday February 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM - ONLY students who are CURRENTLY ATTENDING an EDMONTON PUBLIC SCHOOL may register if there are seats available in the class by calling Metro at 780-428-1111.

This Metro Academic Class is offered in an ONLINE Semestered format from February 9, 2026 to June 8, 2026. Classes are held Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Classes begin with a teacher-led live lesson. Students are expected to be present on all days and to participate and be engaged in learning activities for the duration of class time.

For this course students MUST have a Chromebook, laptop, or desktop computer available for their use (not a cell phone or tablet). The device used must have a webcam, a microphone, and access to the Internet.

TOTAL COST - Students under 20 years on Sep 1 of the current school year: A $75 non-refundable program fee. Students 20 years and over on Sep 1 of current school year: $75 non-refundable program fee and $600 tuition.

All study/reading resources required for this course are in an ONLINE FORMAT and access will be supplied by your teacher. A graphing calculator is required for this course and students are expected to provide their own.

NOTE:There will be NO CLASSES Feb 16, Spring Break (March 28 to April 6), May 15 and May 27.
