In Biology 20 students examine the interactions of living systems to better understand the constant flow of energy and the cycling of matter. Specifically, students explore the functioning of the human body and the mechanisms that work to maintain balance in organisms—in ecosystems and in the biosphere.

Prerequisite: Science 10: 50%. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year.

Please read: 

REGISTRATION for this class begins Wednesday July 16, 2025 and will close Monday September 1, 2025. From Tuesday September 2, 2025 to Monday September 15, 2025 at 4:00 PM - ONLY students who are CURRENTLY ATTENDING an EDMONTON PUBLIC SCHOOL may register if there are seats available in the class by calling Metro at 780-428-1111.

This Metro Academic Class is offered in an ONLINE Semestered format from September 8, 2025 to January 7, 2026. Classes are held Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Classes begin with a teacher-led live lesson. Students are expected to be present on all days and to participate and be engaged in learning activities for the duration of class time.

For this course students MUST have a Chromebook, laptop, or desktop computer available for their use (not a cell phone or tablet). The device used must have a webcam, a microphone, and access to the Internet.

TOTAL COST - Students under 20 years on Sep 1 of the current school year: A $75 non-refundable program fee. Students 20 years and over on Sep 1 of current school year: $75 non-refundable program fee and $600 tuition.

All study/reading resources required for this course are in an ONLINE FORMAT and access will be supplied by your teacher. A graphing calculator is required for this course and students are expected to provide their own.

NOTE:There will be NO CLASSES October 13 & 20, November 12 and Christmas Break (December 22- January 2).
