Lighting Made Easy
Enhance your knowledge of the role of light in setting the mood for your portrait. You will be introduced to the four basic lighting patterns for portrait photography and will learn how to use them to add beautiful images to your portfolio. This class incorporates the use of natural light outdoors, window light and flash photography. Prerequisite(s): Fundamentals of Digital SLR Photography or the ability to use the buttons, dials and settings on your camera

Posing People
As a photographer, you want your clients to look and feel amazing so you can create a picture-perfect portrait. In this class, we’ll discuss the fundamentals of how to guide your subjects into positions that are most flattering and comfortable. You will explore the differences between male and female poses and the advantages of both full-length and close-up portraits, and uncover tips on posing hands. You’ll leave with confidence that you can capture relaxed and natural expressions from your subjects. Prerequisite(s): Fundamentals of Digital SLR Photography or the ability to use the buttons, dials and settings on your camera

Posing Children & Families
Whether you’re interested in becoming a professional photographer or just want better pictures, it’s important to know how to pose your subjects. Posing children and families can be complicated, yet family photos are among the most common types of digital photographs. Debbie Boccabella will reveal her best posing tips for family photos and children and babies of all ages so you can start to improve your techniques to get that shot everyone will love. Prerequisite(s): Fundamentals of Digital SLR Photography or the ability to use the buttons, dials and settings on your camera

ABCs of Colour Theory
In this week-long summer workshop, you will complete a number of small studies from observation. We will begin by studying values and what creates neutrals. Chroma, or the intensity of colour, will follow, along with analyzing hue. These elements will be studied both independently and together in order to create complex colour palettes. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to mix colours with confidence and successfully apply glazing technique. Open to students of all levels. Supplies are needed.

Portraing Painting Workshop 
Explore the art of portraiture. Using oils and/or acrylics, learn to paint realistic portraits that capture the likeness, personality and psychology of a sitter. This class will draw on the norms of classical portraiture, recreated in a contemporary setting. It will also cover painting skills like colour choice and composition. You will complete a number of assignments based on photographic images and your own reflection in a mirror. Open to students of all levels. Supplies are needed.
