In the English 30-2 program, students will develop a variety of reading, comprehension and writing strategies. Using these strategies, students will be expected to respond to texts at a variety of different levels of sophistication. The 10-2, 20-2, 30-2 course sequence satisfies the English Language Arts requirements for a high school diploma, and it will prepare students for some post-secondary programs. Prerequisite: English 20-2: 50% or English 20-1: 40%. Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year. Students must write a diploma exam to complete this course. Diploma exams are offered in January, April, June, August or November. Alberta Education charges $26.25 to rewrite a diploma exam and the fee is payable directly to them. Students considered to be rewriting an exam are those that have written the exam for this course in the last 2 years. Students are expected to supply their own dictionary and thesaurus.
