Perspectives on Ideology - Students will explore the origins and complexities of ideologies and examine multiple perspectives regarding the principles of classical and modern liberalism. An analysis of various political and economic systems will allow students to assess the viability of the principles of liberalism. Developing understandings of the roles and responsibilities associated with citizenship will encourage students to respond to emergent global issues.  Students without the prerequisite must withdraw from class with no refund if they are under 20 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year. Students must write a diploma exam in January, June or August. Alberta Education charges $26.25 to rewrite a diploma exam, and the fee is payable directly to Alberta Ed. The rewrite fee is to be paid prior to students rewriting any diploma exam.
Prerequisites: Social Studies 20-1 or Social Studies 20: 50%.
